Rustenburg offers young sportswomen of today opportunities to excel, both individually and as team members. There is a wide variety of summer and winter sports codes, although girls who play alternative sports off the campus are also encouraged and acknowledged.
The school endorses the idea of a well-rounded and balanced education, with the intention of sending into the world compassionate, understanding and resourceful global citizens who display a solid work ethic and can contribute positively towards their community. Much of this is achieved through strong extra-mural involvement. Learners acquire important life skills through their participation and commitment: good sportsmanship, camaraderie, leadership, the ability to respond to criticism, friendship, co-operation and a wholesome, healthy outlook.
Rustenburg attends a number of sporting festivals and tournaments annually. The biggest of these is the National Girls’ Schools’ Festival, which is hosted by different schools each year.
We are a member of the Peninsula Girls’ Schools’ Games Union (PGSGU). Most of our codes are governed by this body, with each sport culminating in an age-group tournament at the end of the season.
We have students who have represented South Africa at Water Polo and Swimming. We also boast a large number of girls who have represented their province in a wide variety of sports.
