Rustenburg hosted two Lerato’s Hope food drives in the first term of 2018. Both can be considered great successes where Rustenburg girls from all grades stood together outside of Silwood Spar and asked for donations to this worthy cause. Lerato’s Hope is an organisation that helps families, especially women and children, affected by poverty and HIV/Aids.
The first food drive was on 17 February and 129 items were collected in total. The rand value of the items amounted to R1 743, 86. The majority of these were donated to Abahlobo Children’s Home in Barcelona Township. The figures for the second drive are still pending.
Thank you to all the girls who volunteered as well as the teachers who came to donate; Ms. Ryan, Madame, and Ms. Jacobs!
